Department of Civil & Environmental Engineering

Graduate Courses Offered

The Geotechnical and Transportation faculty in association with their colleagues in Geology at Washington State University and at the University of Idaho offer the following suite of fundamental as well as applied graduate courses.

In addition to the courses offered in the general areas of geotechnical and transportation, graduate students may choose a variety of courses offered by other engineering disciplines to suit their research and practice needs.

Students may be accepted to the graduate program with undergraduate degrees in areas other than Civil Engineering (e.g., related areas such as mechanical engineering, materials science, physics, etc.). These students, however, may need to complete an additional set of background courses (see deficiencies).

Related Undergraduate Courses

Graduate students may take related undergraduate courses, subject to university requirements (typically up to a total of 6 credit hours). These courses may serve to broaden a student's background or provide needed prerequisite material for more advanced graduate courses. Undergraduate students with a GPA higher than 3.0 may reserve up to 2 courses (graduate or undergraduate) to be credited towards their future graduate program. Students work with a graduate advisor to define suitable coureses offered in the Geotechnical and Transportation Engineering program or in other disciplines. Listed below are the undergraduate courses that are useful for the Geotechnical and Transportation engineering programs:
