Department of Civil & Environmental Engineering

Certification

Certification into the department is the formal acceptance of the student by the department to pursue a professional academic program in that department. Students who will be completing at least 45 semester hours of course work at the end of the semester (including CE 211, Math 171, 172, and Phys 201 or equivalents) are eligible to apply for certification. The number of students certified into the department depends upon the available resources and facilities. An undergraduate may apply for certification as a major within the department after completion of 40 semester hours, and must apply after 60 semester hours. The best qualified students, based on cumulative GPA and grades in the prerequisite courses listed above will be certified until the carrying capacity is reached. Applications will be reviewed at the end of each semester.

The application deadline is as follows:
May review: April 30th
August review: July 15th
December review: November 30th
